Comment by Dale Overall on April 2, 2012 at 5:08pm Yes, so true when emergencies happen-back in the 1998 Ice Storm we had no power for 13 days-but at least with the wood stove heat was always there and we used the wood stove to cook with.
If one has no heat then that is quite a threat to you and your furry friends-some times that may involve travelling outside of your town or city if there is no heat/electricity and you have no generator.
Comment by Ann Cyran on March 19, 2012 at 11:51pm 2 weeks ago we lost are power for 6 days. if you don,t have a backup plan for your pets they could be verry traumatized by what you have to do in an emergency. the dog stitch is verry traumatized that she was sepperated from me and the cats for the better part of 6 days. please plan ahead for your pets and families

Comment by Jenica Anagnostou on October 3, 2011 at 7:19pm At the time we brought my Penny home we had one dog a Coca-poo...Bitsey!
B had a habit of chasing our other two cats which gave us some concern about introducing another cat let alone a kitten no less into the household.
So Penny came home and Live in the bathroom for two days and was ready to meet the rest of the family We introduced Lucy and Snickers her big feline sisters first.... Lucy was more concerned about being shut in the bathroom then the small kitten she was being introduced too. Penny was so excited she run toward her and jumped into her fur! Okay Snickers is scared of every thing except me, So I brought her in to the room and held he was she looked around. She spotted Penny the kitten, Hissed and tried to hide in my arms. Now Penny on the other had was very curious, She had met two wonderful furry friends and neither appeared to want near her!
So finally we bring in the dog... Bitsey Sniffs Penny then noses her. Penny runs around the bathroom in play chase and peeks out from behind the toilet. Any way Penny and Bitsey become good Friends playing with each other under counters and giving play chases teasing each other etc.
But the Dog is already 15 years old and has cataracts and joint pain problems, so she starts to play less and get cranky when she is playing with Penny. So as you might guess our little Black Bitsey passes on and Penny losses her first and only real friend. The other two cats are warming up but still aren't thrilled with her, difference in personality and age, I guess you might say!
So we think another dog or cat? And how soon is too soon? So pretty so my Mom finds this notice about two 6 year old Bichions from a poodle rescue site. they are sister and have to be adopted together. Our question is will they get along with cats as we have three. So we bring them both home name then Sofi and Sara! THEY ARE A HUGE HIT! Not only with Penny but with Lucy and though it is hard to tell, Snicks too, no more chasing goes on in our house just in play! I will enclose some pictures of Bitsey and Penny as already have some up of her with Sara and Sofi. We are so Lucky!
