Well Hello Everyone,
I am NEW here and saw a ? or comment about what kind of brush to use. I am a former Groomer and I use a "Slicker Brush". There are lots of types available and they are the best at getting out matts and brushing most any kind of pet hair, 4 kitties or those 'barking animals'. [A comb works great too.]
I have 2 Maine Coons and use one on mine. I also own a normal, human's brush that I got for myself years ago & never used for me. It is a boar bristle brush and my kitties love me to brush them with it too. THEY will accept any kind of attention!

We bought a slicker brush but it seems to hurt our oldest cat. He is almost 18 and has thryoid problems. One of the symptoms of thryoid problems is that they stop grooming themselves. His thryoid levels are normal now thanks to medication but he has not started grooming himself yet. Whenever we groom him he is very unhappy.
We just try to do it in small amounts every day. When he sees the brush he runs! We have to hide it behind our back and then brush him. He is so sweet!
