I started this group. Reason being that their are many stories in the news about things going on with cats. I am a strong advocate to end the killing of cat(s). I follow stories very close in the media and newspapers and website(s), Rescue Groups etc. I wanted to make this group so that we can share stories that we see and hear about issues related to cat(s). That we find interesting and want to share with the group. All stories posted in this group please be sure they are true stories

Comment by Sharon Marino on January 30, 2012 at 12:16pm Just shared the petition, as well as poor Muffin`s "before" pic, to Facebook. I used to be a volunteer SPCA officer. My job was to investigate complaints of animal abuse. Often it was either a misunderstanding or feuding neighbors wanting to make trouble for each other. I`d sigh in relief because when it was real, it was always horrific. I feel such hatred towards the people who perpetrate the violence & neglect of animals.
Comment by Teresa Bagley on January 30, 2012 at 7:50am I hope the money I sent will help a little...it's probably too late to do much...I hope you find peace sweet Muffin, I'll pray...
Comment by Teresa Bagley on January 30, 2012 at 5:34am sorry bout the spelling, using my tablet and sometimes it messes up
Comment by Teresa Bagley on January 30, 2012 at 5:32am I signed this petition, knowing that Muffin most likely was not going to make it. I also sent / $100.00 to help with vetting. I don't know how much it will help at this point, but I couldn't just walk away. Muffin may be better if he crossed the rainbow bridge where he'll never know cruel and horrible painful treatment. Maybe I shouldn't say that but hasn't that baby suffered enough...He blind, can't eat, can't walk or anything. Wouldn't it be better for him if he didn't feel like that anymore. Before you all go getting mad, I'm only thinking of the horrific that baby must be in. Across that rainbow bridge he would know that no more.

Dear All... The sweet-faced, chubby fluffy cat peeking out from under a brown blanket in one photograph, is the same cat that appears on the petition below as a ghastly, putrefying, incredibly heartbreaking, unrecognizable mess :'( That any innocent animal dependent on the compassion of a human being, should not only NOT be shown any compassion, but to be so completely neglected as to have maggots roiling behind his dead left eye--is unspeakably cruel and sadistic; and the person responsible for deliberately letting this beautiful creature rot in agony, must be brought to justice. Over a period of about 6mos, Muffin's 'guardian' was offered help to get treatment for him, which she consistently refused until it was too late, at which time she surrendered him of her own accord. PLEASE SHARE YOUR OUTRAGE BY SIGNING THIS PETITION, AND SHARE WIDELY, PLEASE! The more signatures the better. Many Thanks, on behalf of Muffin♥

Muffin, a neglected cat that the "owner" stated "wasn't so bad"..
We need to have the WOMAN who is known to be prosecuted for her crime. The fact that this poor cat suffered to this degree needlessly for 6 months!! is one of the Worst Intentional cases of abuse to a cat I have heard of EVER maybe the worst in U.S. History .
This is Muffins Story Some rescuers heard about Muffin in August 2011
They knew that Muffin was FIV + and had a leg injury that needed attention for several months. Although several rescue people offered help to the person who had the cat, the woman wouldn't turn the cat over. She did NOTHING.
After 6 LONG MONTHS .the woman" finally" contacted one of the rescuers to report that the side of the cat's face was bleeding, the eye was bulging, maggots were infesting it, and there was huge swelling--she "finally" decided that the cat had to go to the vet so some rescuers took Muffin to an emergency vet.( what was her first clue- the face bleeding or perhaps the maggots?)
The poor cat, named Muffin had a long-infected and oozing injury. He could not eat and the injury went from his outer cheek all the way through to his mouth. The left eye was destroyed, totally non-functioning and it appeared he was blind in the other..The nails on all four of his feet were embedded into the paw pads. He has been this way long enough that his joints were calcified because of how he had to walk. There was swelling of all leg joints.. He was very definitely in pain when he was brought in, and was exhausted to a great degree. He was extremely dehydrated, emaciated and starving.
The fact that his eye. facial injury was left untreated, to fester, cause so much pain, and to deteriorate to the degree that this animal could not eat or drink, is completely neglect and ABUSE poor Muffin succumbed to his injuries and passed away last week.
WE cannot allow the owner to get away with this LONG TERM neglect of an animal under her roof and under her care.
Comment by Teresa Bagley on January 29, 2012 at 12:09am I can't believe someone did this, well yes I can believe it. With all the years I have in working at shelters, I have seen it all. Some things still give me nightmares. This person needs to have the same thing done to them or worse...
Comment by Teresa Bagley on January 29, 2012 at 12:06am I just wrote a check for 100.00 to help with Muffin, even if he got put down because they just couldn't save him his vet bills still need to be paid. Come on everybody, even 10.00 would help. If every gave just a little, it would truly help.

CHICAGO -- Police say a South Side man was laughing as they arrested him on animal cruelty charges after witnessing him kick a kitten between 15 and 18 feet into the air, then signal a "field goal" with his arms.
Percy Love, 22, told officers that his cat, Nightmare, who is less than a year old, "is tough, we play like that all the time," according to the Chicago Sun-Times, later adding: "It's just a cat." Officers witnessed the incident at 4:20 p.m. on South Campbell Avenue and immediately took Love into custody.
Officers attended to the kitten at the scene before he was taken to the city's Animal Care and Control agency, where he's being treated for injuries, none of which are life-threatening, the Chicago Tribune reports. Spokeswoman Cherie Travis told the Tribune that the cat is very friendly, and will hopefully be up for adoption soon.
A hearing on Love's animal cruelty charges is scheduled for Feb. 27 in South Misdemeanor Court.
