How To Adopt A Shelter Cat
Adopting a cat from an animal shelter is a rewarding experience and potentially saves that cat from euthanasia, depending on whether it is a no-kill shelter or not.
Despite the fact that shelter workers want these pets to find forever homes, don't be surprised if the adoption process is a little more grueling than just accepting someone's offer of a free kitten.

Keeping Kitty Cool in the summer
When the thermometer shoots skyward during the summer months, your fur-covered feline may be at risk for the same kind of health problems that plague overly hot humans: heart difficulties, heat stroke, breathing issues and more.
"Cats are like people," says Humane Society spokesperson Nancy Peterson. "They can become dehydrated and suffer organ failure and die if they get too hot." Because summer temperatures in general appear to be on the rise, it helps to be aware of the dangers…

My sweet Sapphire
MARY%27S%20PHOTOS%20422.jpgMy poor sweet Sapphire ,has not been filling so well lately. She has a growth on her , but I am unable to take her to a vet to get it checked out. Which scares me very much. I have been trying to find a vet , but some are so expensive. I wish I could do something for her. She is such a…

Update #1
This is an update on the feral kitten i took in a few nights ago. First of all I want to thank everyone for their comments and well wishes thus far. I have always said that if a person tells me that they do not like cats it really impairs my view of them. Mostly I am right in this thought process, or this bias however u want to put it. Mostly people who tell me that they hate cats or really dislike them, turn out to be giant JERKS!! So anyways THANK U!! This place, this type of people, it…

How to Brush Your Cat
Rain and I have a routine, one that she only lets me stray from occasionally on Sundays. She sometimes lets me sleep in then--sometimes.
Part of the routine involves her playtimes and nap times, and, of course, the times she gets fed, but one of the important parts for both of us is the bonding over brushing.
Choosing a brush
When we first got Rain, we had no idea what kind of brush to buy. So we got several. Actually, we started with…

How to Adopt a Feral Kitten or Cat
My beloved kitty Rain didn't start out as a perfect house pet. In fact, when we first saw her, she was darting out from
under my car where she had been hiding from the rain.
Guess how we picked her name?
The second time we saw her, she was lounging on a camp chair on my porch, using the towel that cleaned my gardening shears as a blanket. Rain was amazingly comfortable with people and began to rub against
our ankles immediately but that's not true of…

Cats and bamboo
I already have a plant, miraculously my cats only picked at it once and have not messed with it since. My friend wants to buy me a bamboo plant, is this plant safe to have around cats?

Cats Eating Unusual Foods
I have a black/white bicolor named Obi (who has a mustache that looks like an infamous dictator) who loves to eat things most cats tend not to eat. Obi loves Club Crackers, Chex Mix, potato chips (Pringle's Cheddar Cheese seems to be his favorite), French Fries (especially In-n-Out's fries), and corn on the cob.
He also is great on prewashing dishes and seems to enjoy vanilla ice cream, lasagne, and blue cheese dressing (from salad plates/bowls). Anyone else have cats with…

How Much Do You Know about Cats? - A Cat Facts & Trivia Quiz
Here are some trivia questions and answers on cats I got from Wikipedia (no peeking at the answers!):
1. What do you call a group of cats? (herd, bunch, or something else?)
2. A male cat is called a tom, but what is a neutered male cat…

Cat Lovers Love Mysteries about Cats!
How many of you love "cat mysteries?" It seems that people who love cats and love mystery books always love "cat mysteries." There are so many wonderful cat mysteries out there and still there are room for more. I'm currently working on a "cat mystery" novel, where the kitty helps the heroine solve the crime. (hopefully to be published soon.)
There is something mysterious about the cat, and I think that's why we can so easily visualize them as the "sleuth" that solves the crime. …

Hunting Bugs is Serious Business!
My husband & I have been teaching our 11 month old cat how to hunt bugs. He's excited to learn and eager to please. Gilbert has been having a hard time eating the bugs. Poor cat would lunge forward to eat the bug up, but the bug would move by then. It's actually very amusing to watch. I didn't want him to get discouraged, so I have been flipping over the bugs on its back so Gilbert can get them. He was so tickled to eat his first bug, a little creepy crawling that sneaked into the…

When Your Cat Has to Go - What Cat Litter Box is Best
Just curious what other cat lovers have bought to take care of their cat's "pressing needs". There are covered, automatic, high-sided, lined, disposable, and even flushable cat litter boxes. Should I spend extra money and get something more expensive, or is the economy cat litter box just fine?
How do I pamper my cat when it comes to cat litter boxes?
