My kitten, Sadie, is 10 months old, My freind rescued her and her sister at 2 1/2 months to 3 months old. I worked with both kittens from the time they were brought to my friends house. Both would attack you if you just looked at them. When I was done, they were both loving and playful kittens. My frind gave me Sadie for christmas...she was 4 months old. I have 2 other cats in my house and Sadie has blended well with one. The other one she stays away from and thats ok with both. My other 2 cats will climb on our laps and go to sleep. Sadie won't do this. She will walk by us and be petted. She plays keep away from us..she will scoot away until; we catch her.. She is very playful, both with us and she is self-entertaining too. Any ideas on how to make her more of a "lap cat"??and maybe play less keep away??

Ignore her when and if she goes onto it that way she doesn't feel like she will be scooped up or interrupted from her desired activity.
Then in time if she likes it you could pet her while she is on the post instead of playing chase? Who knows, all cats are different. But if you can find a motivation for her to come up and see you it would be ideal.
Comment by Diane Blais on August 7, 2012 at 8:54am I had a tabby I adopted when she was 7 weeks old and over the sixteen years we loved her
until she died of cancer, she was NEVER a lap cat. It just depends on the personality, IMO.
My two ten month old kittens who are litter mates have very different personalities as well and yet I have had them since they were 6 weeks old. One is a lap cat but only when she decides. The other you have to make the advances or it will seldom happen.
They all are so different and I think she has made it a game for you to catch her..try ignoring her and see what happens.....she may come see why your not paying any attention to her.....or she may just be to busy and will settle down more as she grows up...
