We cat people are sometimes very different than most people: We are often melancholic, musical, artistic, emotional, etc. Years ago I realized I was different than most people in ANOTHER way: bright sunny days, the kind of days that MOST people love, make me feel depressed! I wonder if anyone else here feels the same way?

This article says only about one percent of people are like this, but I suspect more.

ONE reason I avoid telling others (except in this case) is so they don't call me "vampire" or make jokes about it; I don't want them to think I am "into goth" or anything like that.
Comment by Carl Jones on July 8, 2012 at 7:09pm Thanks, Lupe, I only meant MOST people would think this is weird, but not me; I have completely accepted this about myself. It's part of who I am, ha. But actually, it's about MORE than just hating hot weather... When it's bright and sunny for too many days I actually get depressed. Anybody else who has this "affliction" understands what I mean. And since most people this it's weird, I simply don't tell people, usually. In fact, chances are there are people like that here, but they either haven't read this post, or haven't made the connection yet. I have always been like this, but didn't realize it was a legitimate "condition" until a few years ago while searching Seasonal Affective Disorder on the internet.
Comment by Lupe Gore on July 7, 2012 at 9:12pm It isn't weird! My human hates summer too. We are in the Central Valley in California where it is very hot (over 100) and she hates the hot weather. She loves fall and winter the most! Now all us cats inside the house don't like it much either because all of us are trying to find a cool place to spend the day lounging. We'd rather be cool and want to snuggle!!
Comment by Carl Jones on July 7, 2012 at 6:46pm I am sure most people think this is quite WEIRD, but to those of us who are affected, it's very real. But I'm NOT always depressed, only during the hot summer months. During the winter, when the skies are often overcast and gray, I actually feel quite content, even happy, ha. But still, it's very isolating being part of the only ONE percent who feel this way.
